Confusion, sickness, and stupidity? Nov 11 2005

Dear Church Friends and Family,

As you may know I have been down for the count so to speak for the past few days. I have missed two days of work and haven't moved far from bed. I'm doing a bit better.

Now as to the confusion, I don't know what happened.I was happily reading along in Mark and next thing I know I'm reading for a couple of days in Isaiah. Maybe this is an indicator as to my state of mind induced by a busy schedule.

Oh well, Steve, I'm back in Mark!

The following two portions of Mark 4 always cause me concern.

but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for nice things, so no crop is produced. 20 But the good soil represents those who hear and accept God's message and produce a huge harvest – thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted."

25 To those who are open to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But to those who are not listening, even what they have will be taken away from them."

In the end is will always come back to how we respond to God's word. Do we trust God's word; do we obey God's word?

Interesting how the bit that I was wondering about is a quote from Isaiah 6 which is what we are looking at in church this week.
