Seven times a day!

Luke 17:3-4 NLT

So watch yourselves! “If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive.  Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.”

If we forgive someone once or ever we think we are truly righteous. I know it is not exactly the same idea but I think the sentiment is very similar so I've search and found the following :

Quotes Fool Me Once Shame On You Fool Me Twice

For those who have ever wondered what the quote "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" means, there are many interpretations. This is another way of saying "once bitten, twice shy." In other words, there are people out there who are not what they seem. Some people will be pretend friendship for all of the wrong reasons, such as for money, or something else that can benefit.

A follower of Jesus isn't like that.

The christian is bound by the law of Love :

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

If real believers really believed they'd be very different.

In the end this extravagant extraordinary willingness to love and thus forgive is motivated by an understanding that God has been far more patient and generous of spirit with us.

We love because He first loved us. We forgive generously and lavishly because we've been forgiven generously and lavishly. The grace of God is a scandal. Be scandalous and forgive naively (because like a child [a true child of God]  you are forgiven)
